Mrs. Mina Tarpley, 89, of Caruthersville, died July 27 at the Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital. Born March 27, 1896 in Newport, Ark., she was the daughter of Choctaw Clinton Burgess and Rose Deaton Burgess. She attended schools in Newport and was a retired employee of the Graber Department store of Caruthersville and a member of Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church. She moved to Caruthersville from Corning with her family in 1938.
She is survived by her husband, A.V. Tarpley Sr. of Caruthersville; Two sons, Eugene and Aubrey Tarpley, both of Caruthersville; Eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Chester Anderson, and one son, Frank Anderson Jr.
Services were Monday at 2 p.m. in the H.S. Smith Funeral Home chapel in Caruthersville, the Rev. Allen Vancil officiating, with burial in Maple Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Frankie Anderson III and Eugene, Audie, Scott, Jeff and Frank Tarpley.
