LEON T. BURROWS
CLARKSFIELD MAN
CALLED BY DEATH

Funeral services were held
Sunday, with the Rev. William
H. Brady of the Clarksfield Me-
thodist Church officiating, for
Leon T. Burrows, 77, who died
Friday morning in his home in
Clarksfield. Burial was in
Clarksfield-twp cemetery.

Born in Iowa, Oct. 25, 1883,
Mr. Burrows came to Clarksfield
at the age of one year and lived
there the rest of his life.

He is survived by his wife,
Edith, a daughter, Mrs. Carlton
(Alice) Adams, LaGrange, and
three grandchildren.

-----------------------------------------------------------
When Leon was 28 he married Elma Shipman who was 16, on September 26, 1911. Unfortunately they were divorced by the end of 1917. They had two daughters, Eudora and Alice. Leon remarried Edith B. Moss and Elma remarried Floyd E. Smith, both before the 1920 census was issued. With only the 1910 census and 1920 census to go on, one would never know what happened in the interim period.

An interesting fact, the 1880 census has his parents living in New London, Huron Co., Ohio, his obit states that he was born in Iowa in 1883, there's no 1890 census, but the 1900 census has the family living back in Clarksfield Township, Huron County, Ohio. His parents must have made a move to Iowa for greener pastures but only stayed for a few years because his sister Mamie was born in Clarksfield in 1888.

Another item of interest, at his death he had two daughter living, Eudora and Alice, but only Alice was acknowledged.
