MISS VERNA[H] RAY DIES NEAR CITY - Lawton Farm Woman Found In Semi-Conscious State -
Despondency over ill health was blamed Monday in the death of Miss Verna[h] Ray, 30, daughter of W. M. Ray, Hulen community farmer in southeast Comanche county.
Miss Ray was found in a semi-conscious condition on a roadside near the family home about 7 o'clock Sunday evening. She died two hours later in a local hospital.
The body was at Ritter Funeral home Monday afternoon, pending funeral arrangements.

Rites Are Held For Verna[h] Ray; Buried Tuesday - Last rites for Miss Verna[h] Vay Ray, 31, were scheduled at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Letitia, in southeast Comanche county.
Miss Ray died in a local hospital at 9:15 p.m. Sunday because of ill health, authorities said.
The funeral was in Letitia Baptist Church with Rev. Lawrence Brown, Hulen Methodist pastor, officiating. Burial was in Letitia cemetery.
Pallbearers selected were Carroll Sims, Owen Penland, Guy Bertram, Joe Zimmerman, Ray McCaig and Bill Wilson.
The victim, daughter of W. M. Ray, prominent Hulen farmer, was born in Mannsville, Okla,
Oct. 8, 1907, and came to the Hulen community, with her parents, 23 years ago.
Early in life she united with the Methodist Church at Hulen and was a faithful church member and worker, making many close friends who sympathize with the members of the family in their sorrow.
Since her mothers death, March 22, 1935, Miss Verna had taken care of her father's home and a five-year-old cousin, Clentis Norton.
Survivors besides her father are a sister, Mrs. Mattie McCoy of Hulen; four brothers, Grady and Leslie of the same community and Dan and J. T. All of Comanche, and other relatives.
