He was born Oct. 22, 1900, in Scranton, to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Barraclough. He worked in coal mines near Scranton and then for the state of Kansas from 1937 to 1939. He worked at a battery factory in Leavenworth from 1939 to 1945. He worked at the Topeka Goodyear Plant from 1945 to 1965 when he retired.
He was a member of Countryside United Methodist Church in Topeka and a 40-year member of a Masonic Lodge.
He married Margaret Rowe on Aug. 4, 1921. She died Aug. 30, 1995. A son, William Dean Barraclough, died Sept. 5, 1995.
Survivors include two sons, Glen Dale Barraclough, Vassar, and Roy R. Barraclough, Topeka; a daughter, Wilma Morgan, Vassar; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several great-great- grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Barraclough will lie in state after 3 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Funeral Home where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. The casket will remain closed.
