Julius Wiikman (or Wikman, Wickman, Vikman) was born in Parkano, Finland on 28 April 1889, the son of Joosef Marianpoika Wikman, a tenant farmer on the Sivula farm, and Amanda Sofia Kaarlentytar. He was the youngest of ten children.
He arrived in Portland, Maine on 10 Dec 1905, aboard the SS Tunisian, and continued on to Mass City, MI. On 16 Oct 1908, in Hancock, MI, he married Ida Johanna Rosenstrom, who died in 1935. At the time of the marriage they were both residing in Rockland, but later relocated to Greenland, MI. They had at least six children.
On 7 Oct 1941 he married Lempi(Store) Wertanen of Mass City, who died in 1963.
Julius was employed in the mines and also in woodswork and later at the Ontonagon Fiber Corporation, as a fireman, until his retirement.
