Funeral services for Causby Wheat were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 1991 in the Craig-Hurtt-Bradley Chapel with Reverend J.D. Williams officiating. Marty Sloan sang “Carry On” and “I Will Not Be A Stranger” accompanied at the organ by Leatha Franklin. Pallbearers were E.T. Stout, Marty Sloan, Steven Sloan, Troy Hancock, and Dan Wilson, Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt-Bradley.
Causby Marie Wheat, daughter of the late James and Ollie (Dye) Anderson, was born July 4, 1914 at Mammoth, Missouri in Ozark County, and departed this life at her home in Mountain Grove, Missouri on February 26, 1991. She was 76 years 7 months and 22 days of age.
Causby grew up at Mammoth, MO and married Tommy Kirkland in 1931, To this union three children were born. Mr. Kirkland died in a truck accident in 1937. In 1941 she married Roy Wheat. They spent their lives on a farm in Douglas County. Mr. Wheat also preceded her in death in 1977. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Benton Anderson.
She was converted at an early age and was a long-time member of the Congregational Methodist Church. She read from her Bible daily and lived by it as truly as she could.
She leaves to mourn her passing one son, Bobbie Kirkland, Rose Oklahoma; two daughters, Pauline Gasperson, Woodland, California, and Marvell Grace, Mountain Grove; two brothers, Willie Anderson and Dain Anderson, both of Mountain Home, Arkansas; three sisters, Pearl Carty, Mountain Grove, Lois Joyce, Emmett Kansas and Lovell McGinnis, West Plains, Missouri; her grandchildren, great grandchildren; and relatives and many friends who will sadly miss her.
