Elizabeth Bland was born on Sept. 11, 1846 in Bulloch County, Georgia, a daughter of Daniel Bland (1817-1880) and Jincy (Parrish) Bland Nichols (1821-1905).

She is sister of William H (1842); James (1844); Mikel (1848); Malachi (1850); Mollie, Mitchell (1852); Benjamin "Ben" F. (1855), Newton (1856) and Richard Bland. Elizabeth was known as "Lizzie".

On Aug 31, 1864, Elizabeth married John E. Groover. Their children born in Bulloch County, GA, included Benjamin F (1882) and Elizabeth J (1884) Groover.

In 1922, her husband died. Widow Elizabeth lived in Vidalia, Toombs County, GA.

On Nov 22, 1924, Elizabeth (Bland) Groover, age 78, died, reportedly of old age contributed by rheumatism, in Vidalia, GA. Informant was her son, B.F. Groover of Savannah, GA. Burial was on Nov 24th in Lower Lotts Creek Church Cemetery, Statesboro, Bulloch Co., GA.
