Samuel H. Fleischer, 79, of 12364 Goshen Road, retired Ohio Edison Co. plant superintendant at Toronto, died in Community Hospital West at 4:50 p.m. Friday as the result of a stroke.

Born at Grosseau, Siebernerges, Transylvania, Nov. 22, 1894, the son of Samuel and Marie Fleischer, who lived on S. Lincoln Ave. for many years, he attended Salem schools and studied to become a licensed master engineer in mechanical, steam and electrical engineering.

He started with Ohio Edison at the Salem substation and was transferred to the firm's power plant at Toronto when it was opened in 1925. He was assistant engineer and was plant superintendent six years before he retired in 1959. He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

His first wife, Emma (Westphal), died in 1963.

He is survived by his widow, Mary Yates Fleischer; two daughters, Mrs. Orvil (Margaret) Whitmer of Toledo and Mrs. Ernie (Augusta) Fajcsi of Steubenville, and a step-daughter, Mrs. Carroll (Twila) Greene of Salem; three sons, Rev. George Fleischer of Livonia, Mich., Oliver and Carl of Toronto; a sister, Mrs. Simon Miller of Salem, and six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
