Jessie J. Beatty, 70, died Nov. 5, 1995 at VA Medical Center at Fayetteville, Ark. on Apr. 12, 1925, he was the son of the late Jady Clay Beatty and Esther Nutt.
On December 21, 1943 at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., he entered the United States Army. He served in the Northern France Campaign in World War II. He was awarded a Bronze Battle Star and the Purple Heart. He received his Honorable Discharge on May 22, 1945 at Camp Carson Hospital Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Mr. Beatty was a retired ordained minister of the Wesleyan Church. He pastored churches in Poplar Bluff, Portageville, and Caruthersville.
He was a member of the Caruthersville Wesleyan Church, American Legion Post #88 and Disabled American Veterans.
On November 30, 1943 at Caruthersville, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Moody. She preceded him in death on December 21, 1983.
Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Hoyle of Cheraw, South Carolina; one grandson, Brian Hoyle and his wife Amanda of Rogersville, Mo.; three sisters Mae McFarland of Everett, Pa., Pearl Brown of Thridge, Tenn., and Bonnie Pitts of Fremont, Cal.; one brother, Less Beatty of Gratton, Ohio. A son, Ronald Beatty, preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two sisters.
Services were held Nov. 8 at 11 a.m. at the Wesleyan Church with Rev. Kenny Lee officiating. Internment was in the Maple Cemetery.
