John Edward Bradley, Sr. was born Sep 25, 1910, in Hastings, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, to parents Francis P. Bradley (1882-1920), and Gertrude "Ada" Hipps/Huebsch (1886-1952), both born in Pennsylvania. John was the 5th child in a family of 9 children. His brothers and sisters were: Walter Joseph Bradley (1904-1966), Paul James Bradley (1905-1925), Bernard Francis Bradley (1906-1982), Joseph William Bradley (1908-1974), Mary Catherine Bradley-Ransom (1914-1987), Thomas Patrick Bradley (1915-1916), Gerald Anthony Bradley (1917-1973), and Albert H. Bradley (1919-1965), all born in Pennsylvania.
After the death of her son Paul in a coal mine accident in 1925, widowed Ada Hipps-Bradley moved her family to Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, where the family settled.
On Jul 27, 1938, in Highland Park, Michigan, John Edward Bradley, Sr. married Leona Ann Bruschitzki, born in Detroit (1917-1988). Leona was the daughter of John Bruschitzki (1889-1964), and Anna Christine Nastale (1892-1974), both born in Michigan.
John and Leona settled in Detroit, Michigan, and had three children: son John, Jr., and daughters Patricia and Sharron. John and Leona divorced in about 1949, and John remained in Michigan until he died Mar 21, 1989.
John shares a headstone with his sister, Catherine Bradley-Ransom in the cemetery.
