CHILD DIES SUDDENLY

REV. AND MRS. ARCHIE BEALS, OF RUSSELL, LOSE DAUGHTER

Relatives and friends were greatly shocked to learn of the sudden death of little Ruth Beals, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Archie Beals, of Russell, which occured last Friday and probably due to acute indigestion.

Marjorie Ruth, the youngest daughter of Archie E. and Myrtle M. Beals, was born near Russell, Iowa, June 8, 1917 and departed this life June 23, 1922, aged 5 years and 15 days. Her babyhood days were spent in Chicago, and afterwards she lived for two and one-half years at Polk City, Iowa. Here she grew into childhood and develped those winsome ways that are peculiar to child life.

While not a sturdy child, she was always full of life and cheerfulness, causing her parents little anxiety about her health. Her last sickness was very brief. She was ill only about an hour until the angel of death relieved her suffering and bore her soul from earth to glory land.

Her sudden death was not only a shock to parents and relatives but to the entire community as well. Her going on before leaves a vacant place in the home, in the Sunday school, among her playmates and in the hearts of all her loved ones.

Those remaining to mourn her untimely departure are her grief-stricken parents, one sister, Dorothy, one brother, Albert; grandparents, Mrs. A. S. Beals, of Russell, Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Kelsey, of Bellflower, Calif.; and one great-grandfather, J. R. Landes, of Marshalltown, and a host of other relatives and loving friends.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Cain, of Creston, were held at the Russell Baptist church on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Russell cemetery.

The pallbearers were Dale Penfield and Ansel Conner, of Russell and Herman Wolfe and Carl Peterson of Polk City. Her little friends, Meredith Pyle, Edith Margaret Robb and Maybeth and Etha Margaret Jeffries were the honorary pallbearers.
