"Alexander Bruty died suddenly at his home in this city Thursday at 7:30 p.m. of apoplexy. He had been in usual health, and was doing the chores about the house, when he opened the door to go in and fell forward dead. He was born in Belfort, France. Had been in this country 35 years and in the county 33 years. He lived in English River township several years, and for the past 16 years has been proprietor of the Lafayette House in this city, retiring about a year ago. He leaves a wife and six children.

Alexander Bruty, formerly proprietor of the Lafayette House, died suddenly at his home in the south part of this city. Thursday evening, April 5th of apoplexy. He had been in usual health and was working around the house, but when he opened the door to go in he fell forward dead. He was a native of France and had lived in this county some 33 years. He leaves a wife and six children.
