Andrew Benya, Ret. MSgt, USAF, 69, a resident of Montgomery, Ala., died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, just a few days shy of his 70th birthday at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Lee Dymond officiating. Interment will follow at Alabama Heritage Cemetery. Visitation will be held tonight, Dec. 17, 2003, from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma S. Benya, of Montgomery; three daughters, Suzie Macker, of Montgomery, Donna K. Benya, of Waterbury, Conn., and Margaret B. Jones, of Charlotte; two sons, James H. Harris, of Brunswick, Ga., and Andrew M. Benya, of Douglasville, Ga.; three sisters, Kay Pavlick, of Sharon, Pa., Marge Homes, of Hermitage, Pa., and Helen Hammon, of Murietta, Calif.; two brothers, George Benya, of Farrell, Pa., and John Benya, of Ottawa, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Benya was a veteran with the U.S. Air Force for 29 years, having served in World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam. He was a member of the Taylor Road Baptist Church.
Active pallbearers will be John Macker, Jon W. Jones Jr., David T. Benya, Paul A. Benya, John N. Macker and Andrew T. Macker.
