Funeral services for J. B. Gabe Durham, 60, of Hodge, were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 24, at the Hodge Baptist Church with the Reverends A. D. Rockett, W. J. Runnels, and Dell Durand officiating. Burial was in the Hodge Cemetery.

Mr. Durham, who was a supervisor at Continental Can Company, where he had been employed for 37 years, died Friday at the Hodge Clinic after a brief illness.

Mr. Durham was a native of Winn Parish. After graduation from Winnfield High School, he attended Louisiana Tech, where he was captain of the 1932 Tech football team, and was chairman of the T Club. He served as president of the student body as well as three time president of his college class. He was Past Master of Hodge Lodge No. 363, F. & A. M. and past president of the Jonesboro-Hodge Lions Club.

A deacon in the Hodge Baptist Church, Mr. Durham had served in many capacities including Sunday School Superintendent, choir member, teacher, and youth leader.

Survivors include his widow, Mary Edington Durham of Hodge; a son, Dr. Frank E. Durham of New Orleans; a daughter, Mrs. Jess B. Hendricks, Jr. of Arlington, Va.; four sisters, Mrs. Lessie Keys of Natchitoches, La., Mrs. Carroll Bolton of DeRidder, La., Mrs. T. M. Wyatt of Atlanta, La., and Mrs. Ed Wagner of Junction City, Iowa; one brother, R. L. Durham of Shreveport; and seven grandchildren.
