Winn Parish Enterprise, May 31, 1934
The Rev. J. B. Durham, 71, former resident of Winn Parish, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Keyes, in Natchitoches, Sunday, following an illness of a year's duration. He was a former Baptist minister and was active in that work until illness forced him to retire. Funeral services were conducted at the Sardis Baptist Church, Monday, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Keegan of Natchitoches in charge. Arrangements for the services had been made about a year ago by the deceased and were carried out according to his instructions. Pallbearers were sons and sons-ini-law of the deceased. A. Leonard Allen of Winnfield and H. F. Killen of Natchitoches each told something of Rev. Durham's life. Mr. Durham was born and reared in Winn Parish and served as pastor of a number of rural churches here. He and his family moved to Natchitoches about four years ago. He is survived by his widow and 10 children: Mrs. T. M. Wyatt, Mrs. M. M. Pennington, both of Winnfield; Mrs. C. T. Bolton, Shreveport; Mrs. Lessie Keyes, Natchitoches, Miss Agnes Durham, Natchitoches; J. W. Durham, Bunkie; A. W. Durham, Oakdale; Lee Durham, Shreveport; P. G. Durham, Natchitoches; and J. B. Durham, Gibsland.
