George W. Ray, 81, of Winnfield, died Friday, July 17, 1970 at 10:55 a.m. in a Winnfield hospital.

He was a lifelong resident of Route 1, Winnfield, a retired farmer, and a member of the Sardis Baptist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Randall Porter of Winnfield and Mrs. A. J. Hammonds of Monroe; two sisters, Mrs. B. O. Young and Miss Priscilla Ray, both of Winnfield; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield with Rev. E. B. Barton and Rev. C. W. Jones officiating. Burial was in Sardis Cemetery.

Pallbearers officiating at the funeral were Wayne Rice, Chad Rice, Ronald Rice, Jack Ray, Dewey Hammonds, and J. D. Jones.
