James Wilson Russell, 76, died June 1, 1997 at The Williamsburg in Columbia, Mo. Born December 22, 1920, he was the son of the late James T. Russell and Liddie Bell Russell.
He attended Henderson County, Tn. Schools.
On September 18, 1944, he was united in marriage to Charity Acree.
Mr. Russell was employed by the Columbia Brick & Tile Company before his retirement.
Survivors include: two daughters, Betty McKnight and Sally Corder both of Caruthersville, Mo.; one son, Tim Stuart of Sikeston, Mo.; two sisters, Margaret Marbury of Brownsville, Tn. and Erith Bressler of Caruthrsville, Mo.; two brothers, Fray Russell of Brownsville, Tn. and Carl Russell of Lexington, Ky.; four grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Ruth Russell in 1966, and Montia Rose Portwood in 1971. He was also preceded in death by one son, James Thomas Russell on May 21, 1997 and six brothers.
Services were held June 5, 1997 at 11 a.m. at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenny Lee officiating. Burial was in the Maple Cemetery.
