Funeral Of Mary Baker On Monday
Mrs Mary Sheehan Baker, 79, a resident of Merced for nearly sixty years died at Mercy Hospital early Saturday morning. Mrs Baker had been ill about one week and was in the hospital only the day before she passed away.
She was a native of San Francisco and lived with members of her family in Groveland for some time before moving to Merced. In October 1881 she became the bride of John Bennett Baker who died in 1919.
Mrs Baker was prominently identified with the activities of Our Lady of Mercy church. She was a member of the St Cecilia Club, the Altar Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by five children, Mrs Kathryn Conrad, John and Francis Baker, all of Merced; Richard Bennett, Napa; and Mrs Genevieve Mahon, Fresno; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A requiem mass was sung for the repose of her soul in Our Lady of Mercy Church Monday morning with Rev Michael J Stack officiating. Internment was in the family vault in Calvary Cemetery.
