His first wife Canzada died about 1891, while they were on their way back to Texas, from the state of Washington, and was buried on the way back. Joseph Eppes' brother Calvin Eppes and wife were with them on the trip back.

EPPES - Joseph W. Eppes, 74, resident of Austin and Travis county for 48 years, died at his home, 1501 South Fourth street, Tuesday at 3:20 p. m. He is survived by four sons, C. N. Eppes and V. S. Eppes, both of Austin, Edward E. Eppes, Wilemena, Mo., and O. Eppes of Houston; two daughters, Mrs. O. S. Hamilton and Mrs. Theresa Ault, both of Austin; one sister, Mrs. Fannie Kellian, Waxahachie, and one step-brother, C. L. Pruitt.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9 a. m. from St. Mary's church with Father Gallagher officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery under the direction of the Meeks-Hyltin funeral home. Pallbearers will be: John Maynor, Frederickburg, Calide Kidder, Blanco, C. Oldham, Claud Ross, R. W. Townsley and Frank Dryer.

Funeral services for Joseph W. Eppes. 74, resident of Austin and Travis county 48 years, were held from St. Mary's church Thursday morning with Father James Galla-gam officiating. Interment was in Mt. Calvary cemetery under the direction of Meeks-Hyltin Funeral home. Pallbearers were John Maynor of Fredericksburg, Claud Kidder of Blanco, C. O. Oldham, Claud Ross, R. W. Townsley and Frank Dryer,

Mr. Eppes died Tuesday after noon at his home, 1501 South Fourth.

He is survived by the following: four sons, C. N. Eppes and V. S. Eppes of Austin, Edward E. Eppes of Wilemena, Mo., and O. Eppes of Houston two daughters, Mrs. O, S. Hamilton and Mrs. Theresa Ault of Austin: one sister, Mrs. Fannie Kellian of Waxahachie and one step-brother, C. L. Pruitt of Austin.
