Died at the home of her son, Burns Wicker, in Baltimore, Md., last Monday morning at 3:30, Mrs. Abbie Palmer Wicker, aged 82. Her remains were buried at Hopeful Church in the 65th district of this county, where she spent her girlhood days. Rev. Joiner, of Millen, officiated at the funeral.
Mrs. Wicker spent her long life mostly in the county of her birth. She was a sister of the Hon. William Cureton Palmer, who in life was one of Burke county's most prominent citizens, who passed to his reward twenty years ago.
Mrs. Wicker spent several years of her life at Millen with her cousin, Hon. Samuel W. Palmer. She was a high-toned Christian lady, and it can be truly said of her, "in life esteemed, in death lamented."
