Beloved husband of Mrs. Annie (Briggs) Sowell, loving father of Mrs. Mally Buttrey of Dickson, Tennessee, Mrs. Laura Moore of Morganfield, Kentucky, Mrs. Margaret Barta, Mrs Luvena Catt, Mrs. Jo Ella Mabee, Mrs. Betty Haynes, William, Charles, and Paul Sowell, all of Oakland, Edward Sowell of Hayward, and James Sowell of Pacifica, brother of Mrs. Nomie Briggs of Detroit, Michigan, Mrs. Marie Armes of Guthrie, Kentucky, and Lewis Sowell of Clarksville, Tennessee, also survived by 35 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A native of Tennessee, aged 73 years. A member of Christian Temple of Oakland, a veteran of World War I.

Friends are invited to attend services Wednesday, February 19, at 10 am at Trumans Chapel, Telegraph Avenue at 30th Street. Internment, Oakmont Memorial Park Lafayette, Contra Costa, California. Dr. Samuel L. Karahan officiating.
