Levi Woodford Wilkerson was born Nov. 2, 1869 at Cottonwood, Salt Lake County, Utah, the son of William Wilkerson and Rachel Painter, third of a family of ten, nine sons and one daughter.
He spent his early life in Utah, and at the age of 12 he became self-supporting, doing farm work for a bishop. At sixteen he carried mail by horseback and at 18 he hauled cork wood, which was valuable for blacksmith work.
At the age of 25, on June 6, 1893, in the Manti temple, he married Harriett Susan Seaman. To this union was born four sons and three daughters. After their marriage they lived in Ranch, Utah until April 10, 1903 when they left for Lovell, arriving on June 10, 1903. He made the journey by way of South Pass.
His early years in Wyoming were spent building canals and railroads in Montana and Wyoming. For part pay, he received ditch stock, which he converted into farm land by Alkali lake. In 1935 he had a serious illness and before he recovered his wife passed away on Aug 14, 1936, and at this time he retired from farming.
He is survived by fours sons, Ralph and John Seaman of Lovell, Levi Woodford Jr. and Rollo William of Long Beach, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Harriet Susan Jones, Mrs. Alice Victoria Thatch and Mrs. Ruby Jones, all of Lovell; five brothers, Wallace of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jacob L. of Pleasant Grove, Utah, John E. of Salt Lake City, Jennings L. of Neola, Utah and Van L. of Duchesne, Utah; 21 grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
