Born Sept. 27, 1888, in Stavanger, Norway, he was the son of Louis and Isabelle Farland. When he was young, the family came to America and he received his education and grew up in the Laurel, Kellog and Ferguson communities.
In 1912, he was married to Mamie Powers and she preceded him in death in 1927. They had four children. On Aug. 1, 1927, he was married to Marie E. Blessing in Paris, Mo., and they lived in Missouri and have lived in Ferguson for 15 years.
Preceding him in death were two sons, a son in infancy and Paul Farland, Jr., during World War II.
Surviving are his widow and six children, Mrs. Russell (Louise) Morgan, Downing, Mo.; Hollis Farland, Rialto, Calif.; John Farland, Mentone, Calif.; Russell Farland and Roy Farland, both of Texarkana, Ark.; Mrs. Hubert (Ila) Coleman, Ferguson. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three sisters and four brothers, Mrs. Charles Hrnicek, Marshalltown; Tory Farland, Marshalltown; Albert, Albion, Bert, Albion; Harold, Newton; Mrs. Dewey Crosson and Mrs. George Mace, both of Ferguson. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
