Obituary - Mrs. Alexander Hinkley
Mrs. Lannie Branning Hinkley wife of Alexander Hinkley and a highly esteemed woman died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Atlee Teeple, at Pine Mill, Monday, Feb. 5, 1940, at 1:30 p.m., where she and Mr. Hinkley went to spend the winter months. She had been in failing health and on Jan. 31, suffered a stroke.
Mrs. Hinkley was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Branning and was born Jan. 2, 1863. She was twice married. Her first husband was William H. Dailey, who passed away June 2, 1902, leaving her with a family of seven children, the youngest six months old. She was the mother of fourteen children. On April 11, 1904, she was united in marriage to Mr. Hinkley and has resided on the Hinkley homestead since that time at Crooked Creek, where she will be sadly missed by many friends. Mrs. Hinkley was a faithful wife and mother, a true friend and kind neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand when needed.
She is survived by her husband and the following children: Ford Dailey of Cochecton: Forest Dailey, Hancock; Mrs. Orville Hughes, of Lakewood, R.D.1; Mrs. Ernest Arnold, [Kathryn] Waymart; Mrs. Watson Pierson, Johnson City; Mrs. Atlee Teeple, Pine Mill; 29 grandchildren, also three brothers, William Branning, Equinunk; Fred Branning, Lookout; Clark Branning, Schenevers, NY; two sister, Mrs. Linas Mahon, Union; Mrs. Henry Brining, Equinunk. Deceased was a member of the Methodist church at Equinunk from where her funeral was largely attended at 2 p.m.. Thursday Feb 8, Rev. Mr. Cooley officiating. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. Interment in Equinunk Cemetery. Casket bearers were, William Dailey, Gerald Pierson, Bernard Shaffer, Lester Keesler, Frederick Dix, Orvis Teeple.
