Evelyn was born on May 11th, 1925 in Annabella, Utah to William R and Vida Brown Hooper. She grew up on their farm in Annabella and carried many responsibilities helping her family. She attended High School in Monroe, Utah. She married the love of her life, Harold Leroy Carter on February 23, 1943 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti LDS Temple on November 20, 1951. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints starting with her first church job teaching Primary at the age of 13. She moved all over the country supporting Harold in his military career and later with his work for the church. Her family were her first priority, always being available when they needed her. She loved to sew, and made over a thousand quilts for family and charity. She was a great cook and always had extra people for dinner, especially single GI's who were away from home.
She is survived by her children: Michael (Vickie) Carter, Virg (Donna) Carter, Susan (Phil) Robinson, Harold Carter Jr., and Marilyn (Mitch) Leavitt. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren as well as two brothers Keith Hooper, Richard Hooper and her sister Adelia Poulsen. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son William R, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 21st, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Utah Veteran's Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 17111 S. Camp Williams Rd., Bluffdale. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem. Interment will be in the Camp Williams's Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, reach out to someone in need and think of her.
