Lawrence Houston "Nubby" Acors, 69, of Spotsylvania went to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Mary Washington Hospital.

Nubby was a U. S. Army veteran and retired owner of Nubby's Fix-It. He was a member of Sumerduck Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Acors; daughter, Angela Paige Hall of Graham, NC; four step-children, Sharon H. Bradley of Cleveland, TN, Crystal L. Burgwin of Colonial Heights, Lorrie A. Bowers of Petersburg, and Timothy L. Rogers of Richmond; ten grandchildren and one great-grandson; two brothers, Howard Ray Acors of Fredericksburg and Richard Acors of Spotsylvania; sister, Barbara Smith of Fredericksburg; several nieces and nephews; and his "best friend" Ginger.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg with Pastor Chaz Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Sumerduck Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ben Shenk, Mark Burgwin, Tim Merryman, Jeff Butler, Zack Butler, Stephen Overton, Billy Ruch and Mark Curtis. Honorary pallbearers will be John Gilbert, Tommy Carter, Max Davenport, Tony Curtis, Ray Owens and Greg Rose.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 17 at the funeral home.
