Howard Ray Acors, Sr., 73, of Spotsylvania County, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Mary Washington Hospital.

Mr. Acors had served in the National Guard, as a volunteer Fireman for the Fredericksburg Fire Department, and with the Fredericksburg Police Department Special Police. He served as a police officer for the University of Mary Washington until his retirement in 2005. Mr. Acors was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

He is survived by his four children, Lisa Hodgkiss (Michael), Theresa Wanex, Cindy Green (Robert) all of Spotsylvania, and Ray Acors (Amy) of Culpeper; eight grandchildren Bekka, Stefani, Nicole, Heather, Hayden, Robbie, Kenzie, and Cassi; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat; his parents Elton and Agnes Acors; two brothers Richard and Lawrence; and sister Barbara.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Richmond Chapter, 4600 Cox Rd # 130 Glen Allen, VA 23060
