Born in Transylvania County, NC on July 31, 1916 she was the daughter of the late William Drake and Sally(McGaha) Drake Hill. She was the widow of James Boyd Fleming and was first married to the late Pierce Johnson.
She lived in the Holly Springs Community for over 50 years and retired from Inman Mills. Until she died, she was the oldest surviving member of Holly Springs Baptist Church.
She is survived by a sister, Juanita Donaldson of Suffolk, VA; two granddaughters, Joan Jolley and her husband Don of Flowery Branch, GA, Jill Settle and her husband Bo of Campobello, SC, four great-grandchildren, Lindsey Bridges and her husband Justin, Jessica Petty and her husband Chris, Clint Settle and his fiancée Rogers Brandt, and Sally Irwin and husband Garrick; and one great great granddaughter, Adeline Irwin. She is also survived by her son-in-law Max Moon of Inman and many step-greats and step-great great grandchidren.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Shirley Moon and two stepsons, Paul Robert Johnson, Sr. and Edward Johnson.
Graveside services were held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 5, 2012 in Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Dr Tim Clark. The family received friends immediately after the service at graveside.
In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to the Holly Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, 251 Hannon Rd., Inman, SC 29349.
The family extended a very special thanks to the dedicated staff of Inman Health Care for the 11 years of loving care and kindness!
