HOISINGTON — Anton J. "Tony" Reif, 89, died May 19 at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington.
He was born July 23, 1921 at Odin, the son of Alois F. and Anna M. (Hitschmann) Reif.
He married Eleanor Martha Demel Oct. 20, 1942, at Odin. She survives. He was a farmer and electrician. Mr. Reif was a Claflin resident since 1993 coming from Odin. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, former Grand Knight, and church choir member. He played minor-league baseball, and enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, square dancing, hunting, card playing and fishing.
Survivors include his wife Eleanor Reif, of the home; a son, Greg Reif, Odin; a daughter, Sharon Dreiling and husband Gary, Hoisington; a sister, Jean Moeder, Great Bend; a brother, Frank Reif, Cunningham,; grandchildren, Shelli Dreiling, Rebecca Johnson, Tracie Rubio, Kimberlie Demel, Anthony Reif, Trenton Reif, Blake Reif; great-grandchildren, Kyler Dreiling, Kinley Van Nuss, Zoie Johnson, Zylie Johnson, Zurie Johnson, Alexis Rubio, Zachary Rubio, Nicolas Rubio, Alaina Rubio, Kole Dove, Gage Demel, Liam Reif.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Msgr. Steve Reif, and Lawrence Reif; two sisters, Irene Polzin, Emma Prosser and infant sisters, Virginia and Marie Reif.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at 10 a.m. Monday, May 23 at
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Claflin with celebrant Father Charles Mazouch.
Visitation is scheduled from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington. A vigil service is scheduled at 7 p.m. Sunday followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary at the Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Interment will be at Holy Family Cemetery, Odin.
