Joseph Galloway Gone on Before

Shortly after midnight on last Friday morning, the earthly career of Joseph Galloway late of this city, terminated. He was "old and full of years" aged 87, and lived an honest upright life, and it is well with him in the home of the soul.

He was born in Jennings county Indiana and in 1853 wedded Miss Virginia Gentry who departed this life in 1906.

They came to this county in 1867 and located on a farm in Raccoon Township where they reared their six children born to them.

They moved to Salem in 1895, which was their earthly home till called hence.

The children thus bereft of their father are Mrs. Alice Huff, J. Wilson Galloway, Mrs. Emma Farthing, Mrs. Anna Whisnant, Mrs. May Simer and Miss Ollie Galloway. He is also survived by his youngest brother, Robert Galloway, several grand children and great grandchildren.

He was a faithful member of the Presbyterian church with which he had been identified the greater part of his long life and his children were brought up in the "nurture and admonition of the Lord" have not departed from the faith, and as a result are leading the lives of Christians and are recognized as honest, upright people.

Brief services were held at his late home in this city at 10 am on Saturday after which the body was conveyed to Mt. Moriah church in Raccoon township where the funeral discourse was delivered by Rev. H.C. Temple in the presence of the bereaved relatives and old time neighbors, followed by the interment in the cemetery near by.

To the bereaved children and grandchildren, and especially to Miss Ollie, who had been his constant companion all through life, we extend sympathy but they do……(cannot read).
