"H. W. Galloway, 80 years of age, passed away at his home on East Main street Sunday afternoon. He had been in failing health for some time, and had been under the care of a physician. The first of last week he was able to visit the doctor's office.
Mr. Galloway was born in Mt. Vernon, Indiana, Feb. 22, 1856, and passed away Sunday, May 24. Mr. Galloway had been a resident of the city of Salem for the past 35 years. He was an active member of the Salem Methodist Episcopal church and has always been a good worker for the good of the organizations. He was president of the Sunday School organization for a number of years. Mr. Galloway just completed eight years as a member of the city council.
Survivors are his wife, two daughters Mrs. Martin Lohear of this city and Mrs. Laura Huff of Villa Grove. Four sisters, Mrs. Emma Farthing and Mrs. Ollie Bogan of this city, Mrs. Nan Whisnant of Kinmundy and Mrs. May Simer of Monticello, and two granddaughers.
Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. George Goodman with interment in East Lawn Cemetery.
Active pallbearers: L. F. Easton, A. E. Miller, Dr. Spencer, Quinn Lewis, Dr. Cunningham, and William Ross.
Honorary pallbearers: Joe Schwartz, John Chassels, Frank Denton, John Kagy, Omar McMackin and Will Holmes."
