Their mother Rachel Outland Mills Hinshaw, daughter of Thomas Jordan Outland and Asenath Pritchard, was born Sep 25 1841, Rich Square MM, Northampton County, North Carolina. Rachel had been previously married to Nathan Mills (1837-1873), Aug 13 1863, Edgar County, Illinois, by whom she had daughter, Flora Adel Mills, Dec 6 1871 and also apparently a son, Cassius Mills, who probably died young as records for him are scarce.
