Lila Ruth Gunn was the daughter of Jesse Jones Gunn and Jessie Lee Hinton. She was born on April 12, 1911 in Walker County, Alabama. She married Clarence Montgomery Cloud on October 2, 1934 in Morgan County Alabama. They purchased some property in the Hobbs Island area in Huntsville and she lived there until her death in 1954. Lila and Clarence adopted Lila Jean Johnson who was Ruth's younger sister Mary Elizabeth Allen's daughter in 1946. Ruth had no children of her own until then. She adored Lila Jean as did Clarence. Their untimely death in 1954 placed Lila Jean in foster care for 10 years. Ruth is still missed and loved very dearly by her daughter.
