FLOWERS, JEFFERSON LEE Jefferson Lee Flowers, age 92, passed away Friday, June 12, 2009 in his home of 52 years in Winter Park. Born in Erick, OK, he is survived by son Jefferson S. Flowers and wife June (Schaper) of Maitland; stepson Donald Alan Nyman and wife Julie; grandchildren: Jefferson L. Flowers II of San Francisco, CA, Jason E. Flowers of Orlando, Terra L. Flowers of Los Angeles CA; and nieces: Jerry Townsend, Kay Lowe, Carolyn Dobbs and Marilyn Morrow all of California. Founder of Flowers Chemical Laboratories in Altamonte Springs in 1957, Jefferson held a Master of Science from Oklahoma A & M and Ph.D. from The Ohio State University in Agronomy. The family will be receiving friends on Monday, June 15 at 5-8PM at Baldwin-Fairchild Orlando Chapel, 301 NE Ivanhoe Blvd., Orlando, FL 32804. A service will be held on Tuesday, June 16 at 1PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Maitland, 341 North Orlando Ave. with funeral procession to Palm Cemetery in Winter Park and reception immediately following back at the church. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to "Performing Arts of Maitland", 117 Whitecaps Cr., Maitland FL 32751. Jefferson was a professor of Agronomy, an explosives chemist at Trojan Powder during WWII, corporate troubleshooter at Eastman Kodak, government liaison at Dow Chemical, founder, scientist and entrepreneur at Flowers Chemical Laboratories, and loving father and grandfather.
