Homer Burton/Birton Gossett was born in Princeton, Mercer, Missouri on Dec 30 1881 to James Newton Gossett and Mary Elizabeth Evans. Homer had an older sister, Leora Belle Gossett who had been born in 1877. Homer's younger brother, Lewis Emery Gossett was born in 1885.

Homer married Martha Josephine Brown on Oct 6 1902 in Woodward City, Woodward, Oklahoma. Martha was born in Missouri in 1884. There isn't much information about Martha, other than both her parents were born in Missouri. She may have died in about 1919 as she doesn't show up in the 1920 census.
