When a small girl, Flora moved with her parents and brother to a farm near Strang and lived in the Strang community all of her life until the past two years, which were spent at Sunset Home near Geneva. She attended Strang grade school and high school.
She was married to Thelo E. Houck of Strang February 12, 1902. To this union two sons and two daughters were born., Harold of Bruning, Earl of Strang, Mrs. Clarence (Hazel) Hiner and Mrs. Lyle (Ruby Trapp, both of Boise, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1946, her parents and brother.
She is survived by her two sons, two daughters, two daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, ten grandchildren, a cousin, Mrs. A. C. (Myrtle) Jones of Nora, and other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Houck was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Strang and was an active member of the Ladies Aid. She was a charter member of the Belle Prairie Homemakers Extension Club and was a 50-year member of the Strang Rebekah Lodge.
She was interested in her church and community affairs and always enjoyed visits from her children, grandchildren and friends. She will be remembered by all who knew her.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 28, at 10 a.m. at the Kritner-Farmer Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Fred Hueners, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Bruning officiating. Music was furnished by the Salem Mennonite quartet of Shickley. Pallbearers were Byron Bumgarner, Lowell Messman, George DuBois and Charley M. Hobbs. Interment was in the Harmony Cemetery near Strang.
