Mrs. Roberts was born in Jasper county near Rensselaer on March 12, 1856, the daughter of James and Elizabeth Pollock. She was married August 18, 1887, to Jacob Bender. They lived in Monon until 1891, when they moved to Alma, Illinois, where they lived until the death of Mr. Bender, then Mrs. Bender came back to Monon for residence. In 1924 she was married to E.P. Roberts of Monticello, and they lived at Richmond, Indiana. Upon the death of Mr. Roberts on April 23, 1925, Mrs. Roberts returned to Monon to live, where she has lived since that time. Mrs. Roberts was a long and faithful member of the Christian church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Hattie Gilson, Decorah, Iowa, four sons, Roy of Sitka, Oliver and Boyd of Chicago, and Raub of Monon, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Imes, Michigan City, and Mrs. Ruth Coonrod of Sitka.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 o'clock at the home with the Rev. T.H. Bush, pastor of the Monon Baptist church, officiating. Burial was made in the Monon Chapel.
