Tractor Kills Worker at Dam

SPRINGFIELD, Ore., Oct. 2 – Don A. Acord, 27, Twisp, Wash., was killed by a rolling tractor yesterday. It was the first fatality on the Army Engineers' Cougar dam site on the South Fork of the McKenzie River.

Officials of Donald Drake Construction Co,. said Acord was operating the tractor to strip soil for the foundation of the dam. The tractor slipped over a 25-foot embankment and the 22-ton vehicle rolled over Acord.
