Born in Hayward, Lanark, Scotland.

James Haldane Syme, died on Apr 10, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Verna Bradshaw in Lyman, following a long illness. He was born Nov 22, 1866, in Lancastershire, Scotland, a son of James B. and Margaret Haldane Syme. He came to the United States when 12 years old with his parents who settled in Almy. Later the family moved to Rock Springs.
He married Sarah Jane Shaw, May 2, 1889 in the L. D. S. temple at Logan, UT. They moved to the Bridger valley in 1898 where they have since resided. He was a member of the L. D. S. church, a member of the Lyman ward bishopric for many years and served for many years as chorister of the Lyman ward and stake. He was a member of the Lyman stake high priest quorum.
Survivors include five sons and daughters: Mrs. Verna Bradshaw, Mrs. Afton Maxfield, Darius M. Syme and Edwin Syme, all of Lyman; and Mrs. Bessie Jesperson of Ogden, UT; two brothers, Robert Syme, Rock Springs and William Syme, MT; two sisters, Mrs. R. A. James, Rock Springs and Mrs. Charles W. Rollins, Lyman; 35 grand-children and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Apr 14 in the Lyman L. D. S. chapel with Bishop Donald M. Field conducting.
