Sailor Augusta Grizzard, 86, of Emporia, Va., went to his heavenly home on July 7, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Kinard and Rosa Christine Saunders Grizzard; his beloved wife of 49 years, Erine Williams Grizzard; sisters, Vernelle G. Bristow, Mattie Rose Harrell and Christine G. Mays; and his brothers, Charles V. Grizzard and Nolan S. Grizzard. He is survived by his daughter, Glenda G. Wootton and husband, John, of Chase City, Va.; and his granddaughter, Katherine A. Turner and her husband, Richard Travis, of Emporia; sisters, Kerzena G. Matthews of Emporia and Edris Lovie G. Lucas of Glen Allen, Va. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (tonight) at the Owen Funeral Home in Jarratt, Va., where the funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2009. Interment will follow in the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Skippers, Va.
