She worked all four years there for Dr. Alan G. Pierce in the Science Department. After graduation, she taught in high schools in Danville and Courtland. Later, she worked several years for the Bristow family automotive business as an account in Waverly and Norfolk. She returned to the Norfolk schools during the late 1950s and continued until she retired in the early 1980s.
