Death Claims William Marx
William "Monk" Marx, an aged resident of Madison, died at 5:15 o'clock this morning in the Brookside nursing home in Brookville following an illness of about two week's duration. He was 81 years old.
The deceased was a life long resident of Madison and was never married. He was one of the oldest members of Western Fire company No. 3. At one time he was employed at the former Johnson cordage mill in the west end of the city, and later had employment with the Madison Light & Power company. He had been retired a number of years.
Mr. Marx made his home until his last illness with his nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hoefling, 709 west Main street. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Wilmer Fisher, of Richmond, and Mrs Clarence White, of Piqua, O., and other nephews and nieces.
The remains were taken to the Lytle funeral home pending arrangements for final rites.
