MASS -- Robert G. Keranen, died suddenly of a heart attack at his place of business, the K & K Service Garage, Monday about 1 p.m. He was taken to Ontonagon Memorial Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.
The deceased was born at Trimountain Aug. 5, 1928, a son of Henry Keranen and the late Ina Keranen. He moved to Rousseau, near here, with his parents when he was a young lad and attended area schools. He enlisted in the Army Oct. 6, 1948 and served in the Korean Conflict as a radio operator with the 115th Engineering Company. He completed his high school education while in the service.
Mr. Keranen and the former Margaret Alft of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., were married here in July 1952 by the Rev. W. Ylonen at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church parsonage.
The deceased operated the Keranen Septic Tank Service and was a partner with his brother, Edwin, in the K & K Service Garage. He was a member of the Lake Superior Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, the Northwoods Sportsman Club, the Adventure Mountain Snowmobile Club and the Mass -Greenland Chamber of Commerece.
Surviving, besides his wife and brother, Edwin of Mass, are one son at home; two daughters; two grandchildren; his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Keranen of Rousseau and three sisters.
The Allen Cane Funeral Home, Ontonagon, will be open for visitation at 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at noon the remains will be brought to the St. Paul Lutheran Church for services at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Marlin Snyder officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Greenland.
