Bertie L. Yager

CLARKSBURG — Bertie L. Bottomley Yager, 67, formerly of Connersville and currently of Clarksburg, Decatur County, died Thursday morning, June 27, 1996, in Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She had been ill for several months.

She was born Sept. 3, 1928, in Cincinnati, the daughter of Arla F. and Mildred M. Murphy Bush. She was a 1946 graduate of New Salem High School and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She had been em-ployed with various restaurants and was a sales representative for Stanley Home Products for many years. In 1967, she retired from Philco-Ford after 18 years of employ-ment. She had also resided in Mt. Sterling, Ky., for 10 years, and in Glenwood from 1982 to 1994.

Survivors include her husband, Henry E. Yager, to whom she was married Jan. 15, 1994, at St. Maurice Church in Decatur County; three sons. Rick Dawson of Atlanta, Ga., Mark A. Dawson and his wife, Dana, of Sterling, Ky. and Tom Bottomley of Mt. Sterling, Ky.; a daughter, Mrs. Don (Barbara Jean) Sterling of Kansas City, Mo.; her mother, Mildred M. Scott of Greensburg; a brother. Arla F. "Sonny" Bush of Odon; two sisters, Mrs. Robert D. (Betty J.) Long of the Orange community and Mrs. Dwight (Colleen) Griner of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; five grand-children, Brian Michael Sterling, Greenville, S.C., Nora Jean Sterling and Karen Sue Sterling, both of Kansas City, Mo., Jonathon and Billy Dawson, both of Mt. Sterling, Ky.; 10 stepchildren, 22 step grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, a sister, Nora Jean Wilson who died in 1952, and her previous husband, James F. Bottomley, who died Oct. 16, 1977.

Funeral arrangements will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Showalter- Blackwell Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, with the Rev. Willie Weaver of the Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made at the funeral home to the Connersville Chapter of Scleroderma Research.
