Dad was a very remarkable man. He could figure out anything if you gave him time, anything at all. He was a musician all of his life. He played guitar, banjo, mandolin, bandolin and a little steel guitar. He was an excellent guitarist. He played in bands as long as I can remember. Played in night-clubs, parades, you name it.

In mid-life Dad was working in a sawmill and cut off his right hand. They were able to save it and re-attach the hand. He never had to give up his guitar playing. As a matter of fact, it probably would have killed him not to play. He dearly loved music.

Dad suffered a lot of heartache in his life, including losing a son at the age of 36 years old. That was difficult for him. Dad was a wonderful man, with a lot of love in his heart. He enjoyed visiting with people. He had two friends for over 40 years, Eric & Leo. He had many other friends, but these were his buds. Actually, the day that he died he had just left the house after spending the day with these friends, and died on the way home. That is the way that he would have wanted it.

Dad graduated from Grand Junction High School and soon got married. His first wife's name was Evelyn Barge. Together, they had 1 son Gerald. My mother, his second wife, was Charlene Alberta Reigles. She bore him 4 children, Terry, Fred, Gayle and myself, Dee. Terry my older brother was killed in a car accident and Gayle died of severe complications of Multiple Sclerosis. His 3rd wife is buried next to him, her name is Millie. If I could say one thing about him, he was a GOOD, GOOD man I was always proud that he was my dad.
