Memorial Held For Mr. J.R. Jenkins Last Thusday
John Robert Jenkins a pioneer citizen of Robertson County, died at his home near Petteway Nov. 15, 1933 after a prolonged illness.
He was born at Bienville Parish, La., June 15, 1859. At the age of 24, he joined the Petteway Baptist Church and lived a consistent Christian life to its close.
Mr. Jenkins was a model citizen, a devoted husband and father, he leaves his wife, 9 children, 1 brother and 1 sister, and many other relatives and friends who are sad at his passing away.
Bro. E.L. Springer conducted the funeral and he was laid to rest in the Post Oak Cemetery (Proper name is Heards Prairie Cemetery) in the presence of a large congregation. The floral offerings were beautiful.
