Obit, Monroe County Appeal, May 17, 1918:
SAD DEATH OF MRS. JOE McGEE. Mrs. Joe McGee died at her home east of Paris, Sunday, and was buried at Cedar Grove, Monday. The service was conducted by Eld. E. B. Shively. Mrs. McGee leaves ten children, the oldest only 16 years old and one of them a babe only ten days old, most of them very small, a very grave problem for her husband to meet. The babe was put in charge of Miss Lela Hocker, our efficient Paris nurse. Mrs. McGee was a good Christian woman. Her death is a little short of a tragedy.

In 1900 Joe & Lucy are married 2 yrs, living with her widowed mother, next door to her widowed brother, James S. Chapman.
