Aaron Shores was the son of William and Ann Shores. He accompanied his family to Bradford County, Pennsylvania where he met and married wife Jane Ann Horton. They were the parents of three sons and two daughters. They came to Macktown in 1844. He was a carpenter and built a place opposite the Whitman trading post. This place burned down in 1851. What stone was present in the structure was moved across the river and incorporated into his new residence on the north end of Washington Street. He also built Mack's barn which he was paid forty dollars for his labors. He served on the village board of trustees and was very active in the temperance movement.
