Rachel, as she was known to family and friends, made a profession of faith in Christ and at the time of her death was a member of Oakland Moravian Methodist Church.
On September 5, 1933, she was united in marriage with Theodore "Ted" Wilson Bowman, and to this union was born six children. Ted preceded her in death on August 11, 2007.
Rachel was the definition "hard-working farm wife." Whatever needed to be done to help her family complete the chores of the day, she was always eager to do it. Whether it was helping in the fields or tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, her day was not complete until the farming tasks were done and everyone was safely back home for the evening.
In the few moments she would have to herself, Rachel enjoyed making quilts, sewing, embroidery, crocheting, and fishing. However, nothing compared to the time spent and memories made with her family. They will always remember her fried chicken dinners and the aroma of a steaming pot of beans on the stove.
She leaves to mourn her passing, two sons, Jerry Bowman and his wife Jean and Mike Bowman and his wife Debbie, all of Lebanon; two daughters, Ann Patterson and her husband Don of Wentzville, MO and Sarah Wemett and her husband Paul of Lyons, NY; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Rachel was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Harvey and T.F. Bowman and two grandsons, Steven Bowman and one in infancy.
A doting mother, cherished grandmother and loyal friend who taught her family the importance of hard work and love; she will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
