Services will be conducted at 10:OO AM, Wednesday in the Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel for Josie Bell Townsend, 69, who died Sunday in a local hospital after a brief illness. Burial will follow in Acacia Memorial Park. A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Mrs. Townsend had been a Modesto resident for 40 years. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Empire, the Senior Citizens, and was a retired Tri-Valley Cannery worker. She leaves one daughter, Katherine Wetherington of Modesto and one son, Donald of Modesto; two brothers including John Ford of Hilmar; three sisters including Esther Junker of Modesto and Opal Gabbard of Woodland; and five grandchildren.
